Pippin of Yellowstone: Inspiring the Next Generation to Love the Wild

If children don’t fall in love with nature, they’ll never fight for it.
Pippin of Yellowstone is the first book in the Little Bear’s Books series—real wildlife stories designed to teach empathy, courage, and respect for the wild. These beautifully illustrated books introduce young readers to the true lives of Yellowstone’s animals and the lessons they can teach us all.
This campaign will fund the publication of Pippin of Yellowstone, expand educational materials, and help launch six additional titles that bring Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks to life for children ages 4–9.
🐻 About the Book
When a young grizzly cub named Pippin loses her mother, she must navigate the vast wilderness of Yellowstone on her own. Through courage, curiosity, and new friendships, she learns how to survive—and thrive—in the wild.
Every page combines painterly illustrations with factual wildlife detail, turning bedtime stories into meaningful learning moments. Pippin of Yellowstone helps children connect emotionally to wildlife and sparks lifelong curiosity about conservation.

Pippin of Yellowstone is only the beginning. The Little Bear’s Books series will feature grizzlies, wolves, bison, foxes, and cranes—each based on true events witnessed in Yellowstone and Grand Teton.
Every story is designed to make young readers fall in love with the natural world and see that real animals—not cartoon versions—are worthy of understanding and protection.

👣 About Deby Dixon
After a disabling injury ended her law-enforcement career, Deby Dixon found healing in the wild. For the past fifteen years, she has lived near Yellowstone’s north entrance, photographing and writing about its wildlife daily. Her work has inspired thousands online through Deby Dixon Photography.
With Little Bear’s Books, she now brings that experience and love for Yellowstone to the next generation—the children who will one day decide the fate of the wild.
